About Uhma

Behind every vision there is a story and Uhma is no exception -

I was working as a graphic designer and video editor when I was hired by a company to produce a video about Daymond John, the CEO of FUBU, for an upcoming venture capital conference for which Daymond was the Keynote. In the 90's Daymond established FUBU as the premier Urban Apparel line, in fact laying the foundation for all the brands that have since followed.

Around this same time I had begun to develop designs for my own T-shirt line but had not given much thought to actually starting an apparel company. However, with this event, fate stepped in and I was introduced to various people in the fashion industry. Intrigued by the culture I soon after made up my mind to actively pursue my vision - and thus Uhma was born.

The line has seen both the ups and downs typical of any start-up company but with time is growing into my vision of the casual luxury apparel line that encompasses fashion, personal identity, and a youthful attitude no matter what age.

From the beginning I knew I wanted to produce a casual upscale line that would blend the grandeur of Europe with the hip defiant attitude of the American youth.

What better way to start than with a name like Uhma which comes from the Finnish language and translates to "the defiance of youth".

Uhma represents a youthful attitude, a hip metropolitan lifestyle, and a reflection of your personal identity. As a company, we are continuing to grow and change, all while keeping one vital thing in mind, you.

As Uhma grows, we intend to give back to the community, our culture, and our society because without them, our vision of creating a lifestyle revolution would not be possible.
